Expensive bikini | Dissolvable bikini | Bacon bikini | Pacman bikini | Led bikini

Burkini (burqa+bikini)
A burqini (or burkini) swimsuit designed by Australian company Ahiida. Their goal is to design swimsuits “with the respect of Islamic values and aimed to enhance the lifestyle of the active Muslim female”. Well, at least these cute chicks save money on sunscreen.

World's Most Expensive Bikini

Would you like to spend U.S. $30 million for a piece of bikini? It sounds crazy but it's true. The glittering $30 million bikini has been created by Susan Rosen with Steinmetz Diamonds. This is the world's most expensive bikini, it uses all diamonds and no fabric. The bikini features over 150 carats of D Flawless diamonds, including a 51 carat D Flawless Pear Shape, a 30 carat D Flawless Emerald Cut, a pair of 15 carat D Flawless Rounds and a pair of 8 carat D Flawless Pear Shapes all set in platinum. Model Molly Sims wore this diamond-studded bikini for the centerfold of the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue

Dissolvable Bikini
A German company invented this marvelous new bikini that disappears once a girl puts it on and takes a swim. The sexy swimsuit disappears by dissolving in water, leaving a woman completely nude and embarrassed. The sexy black swimsuit looks like a real bikini, feels like a real bikini and fits like a real bikini. The only difference is that it's made from a material that completely melts away after a few seconds in water. Named the “Get Naked Bikini,” the item is being marketed as the ultimate form of revenge for recently-dumped dudes.

Bacon Bikini

The best combination for a man: women in bikini and bacon. It's a win-win situation

Pacman Bikini
The ultimate gift for your retro-gaming girlfriend. This Pacman bikini has it all- our favorite part is the ghost hiding at the bottom. Presumably he doesn't want to get eaten.

Bikini with built-in UV meter
Now you're all maybe starting to think about your summer holidays, it might be a good idea to think about ordering one of these cool bikinis with a built-in UV meter, especially if you're a sun and sand type like me. This SmartSwim Bikini from Solestrom is the world's first bikini to have a meter built into the fabric. The meter is battery-powered with a lifetime of up to two years; and is waterproof of course! The UV meter displays an intensity “level” of ultra violet intensity on a scale from 0 to 20.The SmartSwim Bikini costs about $170.

Solar Powered Bikini
If you like the idea of using solar energy to power up your electronics, you may really like the idea of solar clothing. There is a new solar concept that could help you look sexy and keep you cool at the beach without an effort. Designed by Andrew Schneider, the Solar Powered Bikini is part of his iDrink line. This standard medium-sized bikini with a USB connection provides new and fun possibilities with solar power. Made with 1" x 4" photovoltaic film panels (which supply 6.5 volts at 1.5 amps), a solar bikini like this can come in handy when you want to tan and stay refreshed at the same time without getting in the water. In other words, the solar bikini allows you to power up your ipod, keep your drink cold, in an environmentally friendly manner, while you tan.

Led Bikini
By far the most awesome Bikini ever, it's also the most impressive LED product.Guys can use it for directions as well, it better be water-proof though. This technology gives birth to a new term as well "Camel Glow". It may be a little inappropriate, but it contains no Nudity.

Lettuce BikiniPETA
has created a sexy edible fashion for vegetarians; the lettuce bikini. As part of PETA's Lettuce Lady Campaign, vegetarians and PETA supporters are allowing themselves to be adorned in lettuce and photographed for PETA's vegetarian media campaigns and making appearances at PETA events. The vegetarian alternative to the bacon bra is fashionable, non-greasy and reminiscent of Eve in the Garden of Eden. Anyone looking to promote vegetarianism can make their own lettuce bikini at home to get in on the natural fashion. Step by step instructions to create this strange lettuce bikini are available on the lettuce lady website and should be designed only once you're ready to wear it. All you need to create your own unique bikini from lettuce is romance lettuce, which is preferred because of its large leaves for covering your boobs and bum.

Eyelet-Trim bikini
If you are the kind of woman who would wear Swarovski Crystals anywhere on your body, you would certainly be interested in these bikinis that come with those famed crystals. The White & Pink Eyelet-Trim bikini has been designed by Alessandra Vicedomini and it will make you look almost like an exotic dancer in Paris' Lido. The bikini is crafted in Italy, sent to India for handcrafting, and comes back to Italy for further final touches. It costs $625 and I am sure that isn't a heavy price to pay for these luxurious and sexy bikinis.

The history of the bikini

The history of the bikini
On July 5, 1946, a French engineer called Louis Réard unveiled an outfit "smaller than the world's smallest swimsuit." It arrived with a bang, so named after the nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll, and remains popular to this day

Roman Gymnasts bikini
Roman Gymnasts
Contrary to popular belief, the bikini was actually an ancient invention, as illustrated by this 4th century Roman mosaic from Villa Romana Del Casale in Sicily, Italy. Going back even further, two-piece garments were worn by women (for athletic purposes) as early as 1400 B.C. and are depicted on Greek urns and paintings from that period.

Bikini Bathing
Bikini Bathing
A dressing room on wheels was considered essential for preparing for a swim at Europe's beaches in the 1890s. Ladies would sew weights into the hems of their garments to prevent them from riding up and showing their legs.

Loud and Proud bikini
Loud and Proud
Layers of petticoats eventually gave way to a single-piece costume that no longer hid the contours of the female body. The precursor to the modern bikini emerged in 1907, when Australian swimmer and performer Annette Kellerman (not pictured here) was arrested on a Boston beach for wearing a formfitting one-piece.

Bikini Fleshing It Out
Fleshing It Out
During the 1940s, fashion houses pushed the boundaries of bathing suits, exposing considerably more flesh than ever before. War rationing provided the stimulus for the two-piece, when the U.S. government ordered manufacturers to reduce the amount of fabric they used, resulting in the bare midriff. But it would be a Frenchman sitting on a beach in the South of France who worked out that there was money to be made from navel-gazing .

bikini garment
Explosive Beginnings
On July 5, 1946, French engineer Louis Réard designed a garment "smaller than the world's smallest bathing suit." Four days earlier, the U.S. military had conducted nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll. Réard hoped that his invention would be as explosive as that test and so called his new creation the bikini. But at first none of the Parisian models would dare to wear his design.

bikini dancer
The Original Itsy-Bitsy Girl
Micheline Bernardini, a nude dancer, was the first woman ever to wear a bikini, during a July 11, 1946, showing for the press at the fashionable Piscine Molitor in Paris. The bikini was so small it could fit into a matchbox, like the one she's holding. Unsurprisingly, Bernardini received plenty of fan mail.

<br />Bikinis were banned
It's a Sin
Bikinis were banned from worldwide beauty pageants after the first Miss World Contest in London in 1951. As the tasteful one-piece continued to reign supreme, the bikini was later also banned in Belgium, Italy, Spain and Australia, and it was even declared sinful by the Vatican.

trade of the bikini
And God Created Bardot
Movie star Kirk Douglas frolics on a Cannes beach with the young French actress Bridget Bardot, who was widely credited with popularizing the bikini. It's been said that Bardot did more for France's international trade balance than the entire French car industry.

home made bikini
Ursula Undress
An iconic moment in cinema history came in 1962, when Swiss actress Ursula Andress, playing Honey Rider in the James Bond film Dr. No, strode out of tropical Caribbean waters wearing her home-made bikini. Nearly 40 years later, it sold for $60,000 at an auction in 2001. The following year, the moment was memorably re-created by Halle Berry in Die Another Day.

cavewoman bikini
Raquel on the Rocks
Actress Raquel Welch poses in that legendary cavewoman bikini for a publicity shot for her 1967 movie One Million Years B.C. By this point, many famous actresses had donned the bikini — including Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield and, of course, Bardot.

swimsuit fashion
Swimsuit Illustrated
TIME's sister publication published its first ever swimsuit issue back in 1964. The story behind this debut has it that editor Andre Laguerre could find no compelling sporting events to write about during the winter months and asked fashion reporter Jule Campbell to help fill some space, including the cover, with a model. She found Babette March, above, and the rest is history.

volleyball player bikini model
Having a Ball
The U.S. professional-volleyball player (and model) Gabrielle Reece promotes her sport in 1997. Her team took first place at the first ever Beach Volleyball World Championships, but she's probably now best known for her work on television.

CENSORED
Life's a Beach
Perhaps the quintessential bikini photo, two women in string bikinis, or tangas, walk along Rio de Janeiro's Ipanema Beach in Brazil. To try to sum up the appeal of the bikini, TIME asked Dominic Smith, editor of U.K. men's magazine Nuts for an appraisal: "In the austere postwar years, mankind needed something to bring peace and happiness to the planet once more. That thing was the bikini. Its perfection of form and function ensured that once again, mankind was united in a single thought: phwoar! Happy 63rd birthday, bikini — possibly the greatest enjoyment-giving invention of the 20th century."

Dani Behr showed off her third bikini

Forget personality and charm, Dani Behr appears to have just one weapon in her battle to win I'm A Celebrity... Get me Out Of Here! - her bikini body.

The competition hasn't even begun, but the former TV presenter is already taking every opportunity to shows off her toned figure.

She slipped into a string two-piece today - her third in under 48 hours - for a frolic along Surfers Paradise beach.

Dani BehrShe sashayed along the beach with a full face of make-up in a red and white number before returning for a second round in a black and brown costume.

A day earlier, Dani, dressed in a black number, enjoyed the Australian sunshine with her husband Carl Harwin and two children as they played on the beach.

An original WAG after relationships with footballers Ryan Giggs and Les Ferdinand, the former host of The Word is hoping her jungle appearance will reinvigorate her career.

The former party girl said: 'I've been away and off UK television for so long, so it's probably the fastest way to come back.'

Dani BehrAnd she looks set to base her comeback strategy on former contestant Myleene Klass, whose bikini-clad waterfall showers played a hand in rejuvenating her career.

Dani's competition in the glamour stakes will be Page 3 model Nicola McLean and WAG Carly Zucker, who is also a fitness instructor - and who both are on far lower fees than her.

Dani BehrWhile Behr is set to rake in £40,000 for her stint on the show, Zucker will only get £10,000 and McLean is on £7,500.

The gang of 10 celebrities also includes tennis star Martina Navratilova, 52, outspoken ex-MP Robert Kilroy-Silk, 64, TV presenter Esther Rantzen, 68, and ex-Star Trek star George Takei, 71

Other celebrities who will arrive at the camp, in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, are former police chief Brian Paddick, 50, Joe Swash, 26, who played Mickey Miller in EastEnders, and Simon Webbe, 30, formerly of boyband Blue.

The mix of contestants is said to be the most 'combustible' yet, promising to spark friction in the jungle.

The eighth series of the ITV show kicks off on Sunday.

Latest Mango swimwear range

A heavily airbrushed Liz Hurley posed happily in a series of her own bikini designs earlier this week for latest Mango swimwear range.

So onlookers were surprised to see her arrive at the exclusive presentation for the campaign in Madrid in a knee-length pink dress, despite several models donning bikinis.

And today she also stayed fully covered up as the Mango bandwagon moved onto Munich.

Could it be that she wasn't prepared to pose in a two-piece without any digital help?

bikiniUnlike other celebrities - Miss Hurley, 42, freely admits that her photographs had been airbrushed - confessing that she now relies on "nice photographers” and retouching for swimwear shoots.

In fact not so long ago she declared that she was through with bikinis.

Never again, would she sit eating lunch on a boat in a skimpy two-piece.

The same went for tripping around the beach in a bikini top and skirt with her midriff showing.

But it seems Miss Hurley will relax the rules under certain conditions.

bikiniFirstly, it must be in her best business interests, such as helping to launch a series of her own swimwear designs in a diffusion range for the High Street store Mango.

And there must - read must - be an airbrush involved.

In an interview to accompany these photographs in the Sunday Times Style magazine, the model and businesswoman conceded that "shooting bikinis is now my life".

She said: "I can't think of anything worse in the world than another bikini shoot - and I've got two next month.

bikini"It's unbearable and I bring it all on myself. I've got nobody else to blame."

But, she revealed, she now relies on "nice photographers" and a little digital enhancement.

"I like a certain amount of retouching like anybody," she admitted.

Even if they have been airbrushed a little, the photos suggest that Miss Hurley has made good on her promise to "go to ground and annoy everyone by emerging thinner, sexier and mentally cleansed".

She made that vow in an interview in 2005, at the same time as she spoke of instituting her bikini ban.

bikiniMiss Hurley, a mother of one, revealed that when she looked in the mirror she saw "a person who eats too much junk food and doesn't exercise. That has sadly become my reality over the past year".

Commenting on one of her own designs for Elizabeth Hurley Beach, she said her days of wearing a towelling miniskirt, bikini top and flip-flops were over.

"I don't feel comfortable doing that any more," she said. "As the years go by you do feel less confident about your body."

Miss Hurley is not afraid to follow strict diets when she needs to drop weight fast.

Her regime after the birth of son Damian, now six, was punishing, she said at the time.

"I did it by eating very little breakfast and not too much lunch.

"And only boring snacks such as a banana or six raisins. The only meal I have is dinner."

She lost four stone, and was back in her trademark white jeans within three months of Damian's birth.
